PURPOSE: Ocean of Opportunity Corporation was created to serve and facilitate in the development of children at risk, and young adults in crisis by offering alternative educational opportunities and mentoring interventions, with a long-term goal of providing counseling and advisement services through collaborative efforts. The scope of our programs are designed to combat the multi-generational cycle of poverty caused by school failure, underemployment, drug and alcohol abuse, a lack of positive role models, and early parenthood by offering positive alternatives. The youth in our projected service areas are affected by all the stresses associated with poverty, urban life, and single parent homes. This population is at risk of school dropout, violence, teen parenthood, and drug usage and abuse. Acting on the recognized deficiencies Ocean will offer alternatives that will target their needs with a positive-redirection module or model specifically designed as a vehicle to effectively address the identified problems and concerns.
